The Toyota Aqua (Hybrid)—also known in some markets as the Prius C—is a compact full‐hybrid hatchback that Toyota launched in 2011.  It pairs a small (about 1.5-litre) Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with an electric motor and a battery pack (nickel-metal hydrid or nickel-hydrogen in recent models) to deliver excellent fuel economy, very low emissions, and smooth drive quality. The second generation (2021-onwards) uses Toyota’s newer GA-B platform, improved battery tech (a bipolar Ni-MH battery with higher output) and various driver aids, delivering around 35.8 km/L in certified fuel economy under favorable test conditions. It’s especially popular for city driving given its compact size, light weight, low running costs, and reliable Toyota hybrid engineering.
